MARIO BELEM 
Seorang desainer asal Portugal dengan hasil karya yang artistik. Mario Belem, sang desainer yang menekuni profesi illustrator dan fotografer ini, menggarap setiap pekerjaannya secara detil. Kedetilan inilah yang menjadi poin lebih dari Mario Belem.

“Sang penjual warna” Begitulah yang diungkapkan oleh seorang desainer asal Brazil, Adhemas Batista atau yang mempunyai nama lengkap Ademilson Batista da Silva. Desainer grafis penggemar sepak bola ini, mempunyai gaya desain yang berani memadukan warna-warna cerah dan bentuk-bentuk sirkular (swirl).
Kekuatan desainnya terletak dalam penggunaan bentuk-bentuk vector, selain itu ia juga memadukan antara bentuk vector dan bitmap pada gambar foto. Adobe Illustrator dan Adobe Photoshop yang dikuasainya dijadikan tool yang efektif untuk menelurkan ide-idenya yang colorful.
Bekerja pada sebuah agensi dan menjalankan freelance, Adhemas banyak menangani klien-klien besar seperti Audi, Volkswagen, Pepsi, Palm Treo, Havaianas. Havaianas yang gambarnya ditampilkan di atas, merupakan produk sandal, disajikan oleh Adhemas dengan keceriaan warna-warni. Yang menggambarkan keceriaan masyarakat Brazil yang penuh warna, pesta dan festival.

Italian lighting manufacturer Artemide has unveiled a futuristic flagship store in Taiwan. Designed by Taiwanese architecture firm Crox, the sculptural two-story space is located in downtown Taipei.
Focusing on the "concept of brightness and the sense of hope" that comes with the sun breaks through a cloud, Crox used fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP). The sturdy, lightweight material allows for a seamless composition extending from the ceiling to the wall, forming the reception desk in the process. The material conceals posts and beams, and, thanks to a coat of high gloss paint, makes the space appear larger. 
Founded in the 1960's, Artemide has worked with high profile talents including Vico Magistretti, Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina, and Herzog & De Meuron.

The existing dining space.
This open plan room was currently in transition, the client was moving in, but had decided to use the far corner for a dining area. He wanted to create a more appropriate space to house his antiques and artwork. The existing scheme was very contemporary and had a sterile feeling, charcoal carpet, white walls, white vertical and mini blinds that were not in good order.
The client wanted a definite space for dining and to house a superb collection of books. He wanted a softer look, but not feminine, he wanted to create the ideal "bachelor pad".

We at Maxey Hayse are not big believers in design trends. We feel it is all relative to your concept, clientele and location. Every space has a unique set of criteria which acts as the foundation of the entire design. However we do agree that finishes and materials fall in and out of favor. The favorability relies upon the durability, cost and the manufacturers improvements of a particular product. In our design practice we like to combine different finishes and materials to add creativity and interest to a space.
Materials we find favorable are:
* Metals: satin finish aluminum, raw steel, copper and other unique metal finishes
* Woods: natural maple, zebra wood, black walnut, brazilian cherry
* Naturals fibers: seagrass, sisal, jute
* Glass: sandblasted, safety, textured, stained, etched, colored
* Fabrics: plush velvet, natural silks, cotton, other natural fibers, sheers
* Colors: browns, neutral tones, greens, bold colors
* Lighting: gels, LED, fiber optic, sconces, backlit lighting effects
* Misc.: faux finishes, cork, leather floor tiles, granite and all types of stone
As you can see we like a lot of materials. Again, everything is relative to its use and the concept. Our best advice is to be open to all ideas and don't be a slave to trends. Don't try to forecast what will look trendy in six months. Develop a concept that works for your clientele, image and location.

When designing a residence the clientele is your family and friends and how they use the space. The image is your personality and personal style.
